PROJECT-BASED FEDERAL GRANT WRITER (Contract)

Established in 1906, PDK International supports teachers and school leaders by strengthening their interest in the profession through the entire arc of their career. We are seeking a Project-Based Federal Grant Writer to write one Department of Education grant for us in FY2024, with the potential to write multiple DOE grants. The Grant Writer will work collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team to craft and submit federal grant proposals, managing deadlines, compiling relevant documentation, and taking complete ownership of projects from start to finish.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • The Grant Writer is responsible for researching, preparing and submitting federal grant applications;
  • As appropriate, the Grant Writer coordinates and attends planning and implementation meetings with PDK staff and external partners for current and prospective grant-funded projects;
  • The Grant Writer will develop and maintain in-depth working knowledge of PDK’s programs and priorities, especially as they relate to federal grant opportunities;
  • In partnership with the Director of Institutional Giving, the Grant Writer will provide regular updates on the status of our progress to proposal submission;
  • In partnership with the Director of Institutional Giving, the Grant Writer will develop and submit all required reporting and other supporting documentation for federal grants and contracts.

EDUCATION

  • Four-year degree preferred, OR commensurate experience. Project Management, Education, Technical Writing, Journalism, English, or similar area preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience developing federal grant proposals, including budget presentations, is required. Technical writing experience will be considered.
  • A proven track record of funded proposals is required.
  • Experience writing for education-related fields, or the U.S. Department of Education is highly preferred.

OTHER SKILLS

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. Experience with SharePoint preferred.
  • Strong research, writing, and project management skills.
  • Ability to learn required online submission and reporting software; prior experience with grants.gov required.
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and professional.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple different divisions with different, yet related, missions is required.

COMPENSATION
Please include your rates/compensation needs in your cover letter. Will offer referrals upon project completion, if work is exemplary, and the chance to work on additional federal grants for us in the upcoming year. Candidate will work in approximately 3-month spans from RFP release to proposal conclusion. Anticipated project start date: Mid- to late February.
