Our scholarship program ties you into a network of educators and offers many one-time and renewable awards. We have over 100 scholarships available – with one-time and renewable awards ranging from $500 to $4,000.

Explore which membership is right for you today to become eligible for scholarships. We have memberships for middle and high school students, collegiate undergraduates, and graduate-level students and professionals in education.

Eligibility

You only need to apply once to be considered for all scholarships you’re eligible for – our application is designed to capture any specific eligibility criteria designated by the donor(s) to consider eligible candidates automatically.

To be eligible, applicants must be:

1. A member in good standing of one of the following associations: Educators Rising, Educators Rising Collegiate, Pi Lambda Theta, and PDK Association; and
2. Pursuing a career in public education and
3. Enrolled in an institution of higher education full- or part-time for the fall semester of the application year. To be eligible, you must be enrolled and paying tuition and fees in the fall.

Application Process

Applications are open each calendar year from the beginning of January until the beginning of April. Connect with us on social media to stay current on all our scholarship opportunities.

Applicants will need to supply the following:

  • A personal statement sharing something you have learned about teaching and/or the public education system since you have been in higher education. Consider sharing about your teaching experience, challenges you see facing the profession and/or public education, how you see yourself confronting those challenges or your thoughts on instructional methods or teaching philosophies. (250 words maximum)
  • A description of your involvement with Educators Rising, Educators Rising Collegiate, Pi Lambda Theta and/or Phi Delta Kappa, including any leadership roles you have held. (150 words maximum)
  • A description of your other activities. Include activities in which you have worked with others in a teaching or learning capacity, service activities or clubs, sports, paid employment, and any responsibilities you have at home, like caring for children or elderly relative(s). Include any leadership roles you have held and years of involvement. (150 words maximum)
  • Up to three transcripts. Include your most recent or final undergraduate transcript and any advanced degree transcripts, if applicable. Transcripts do NOT need to be official. Please save the file(s) with your last name, e.g., Jones_transcript.pdf.
  • A letter of recommendation written by a person not related to you who is familiar with your academic abilities and activities. Please request this letter early, as we cannot extend the application deadline. The letter does not need to be sealed. Please save it with a file name starting with your last name, e.g., Jones_letter.pdf.

Scholarship Readers

We invite you to support the PDK Scholarship Program by participating in the application review process! Each April, readers serve the valuable role of evaluating scholarship applications unbiasedly to help decide who receives aid. This work is done remotely on your own. No meetings or travel involved.
