Biography

With nearly 30 years of experience in the for-profit and non-profit education space, Albert Chen is an experienced operations and strategy officer with a proven record of revenue growth, fundraising, business planning, and organizational transformation; he became the chief operating officer of PDK International on February 22, 2016 and became the acting chief executive officer in July of 2022.

Mr. Chen began his career as a part-time teacher at Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions (KTPA) and rose through the ranks to become executive director in the graduate division. After 12 years with KTPA, Mr. Chen was recruited into the non-profit world of education, specifically in alternative teacher certification. There he was charged with strategy, business development, and operational change as the chief operating officer and chief strategy officer for seven years. Mr. Chen also served as chief operating officer for Youth for Understanding, USA, an international exchange organization and was charged with transforming and moving the organization forward.

Mr. Chen is a graduate of Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering, and of Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a Master of Engineering in Biomechanics. Mr. Chen lives in Virginia with his wife, who works in non-profit conservation development, and two young daughters.
