Host: Dr. John Hendron
Guests: Terri Iacarino, Neshawn Calloway, and Haviland Gilbert
In this episode, we speak to three of the thirty music teachers of excellence recognized this year by the Country Music Association Foundation. PDK’s Director of Public Relations and our podcast producer, Dr. John Hendron, interviews Terri Iacarino (Maryland), Neshawn Calloway (Tennessee), and Haviland Gilbert (Washington). They share with us their journey into becoming not only teachers, but also as musicians. Through the interview, you’ll gain insight into lessons learned, the importance of arts education for all students, and some of the characteristics of these particular educators that we hope are inspiring for those considering a future career in education.
The CMA Music Teachers of Excellence recognitions were established in 2016. To date, the CMA Foundation has honored 265 public school music teachers and given over $1.3 M to support their achievements in their classrooms and communities.
